road travel trip for Ladakh

The first thing in road travel trip for Ladakh one needs to do is to plan the route through which they want to travel. There are two routes to Ladakh, one is the Manali Leh highway which will make you cover 490 Kms and will take around two days along with a night hall at Keylong or Sarchu, or you can travel through the Srinagar Leh highway which is 430 km and will take 2 days to travel with a night halt at Kargil.

Out of the above two, the former is more popular amongst travelers because of the sheer thrill which it has to offer as it is one of the toughest motor able terrains across the world. Though if you are looking for a convenient way then you should definitely go for the National Highway 1D which is in a comparatively better condition.

No matter which way you travel, it is a must to carry a lot of fuel as there are hundreds of kilometers without any fuel pump. One should note that the roads are closed during mid may to September because of the snow.

It’s true that Ladakh provides one of the most soothing natural experiences but it is also a fact that the trip can be exhausting. Due to high mountain terrain, the level of oxygen is considerably low making it difficult for the travelers. It is always recommended to do breathing exercises at regular intervals. One should also carry generic medicines which can help during the course.

Ladakh is a cold place, so it is important to carry the correct accessories for your comfort. Woolen clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, first aid kits are a must.

It is always recommended to carry a healthy amount of cash as there aren’t many ATMs in the region. Some of the sensitive areas like Chusul, Tsaga, and Batalik etc can require inner line permits to visit, so it is important to get the adequate information before visiting such places.

Ladakh which is often referred to as the heaven on earth is a place full of natural scenic beauty. From snow-capped mountains to glaciers to lakes to mountain passes, there are numerous places which are a must visit in Ladakh. Some of the places which definitely should be on your bucket list are Lamayuru Monastery, Pangong Lake, and Kargil War Memorial.

Ladakh is renowned for its local cuisine which is a must to be cherished. The locals are welcoming in nature and the place is flocked to tourists throughout the year. As you prepare for the ultimate road trip to Ladakh it is of utmost importance that your bike is in the best condition so that your journey is smooth and swift. Happy Journey!!
